Sustainable solutions: the great interest in Composites Madrid 2024

Global Composites presented our sustainable solutions at the last edition of Composites Madrid, which attracted the great interest of the public, especially liking the recyclability of composites made with Ezciclo ♻️ resin.

In Global Composites we value very positively our participation in Composites Madrid 2024. The large number of attendees ensured that the solutions we presented received many enquiries of all kinds. We would like to highlight the great reception and the interest shown in the recyclability of composites made with Ezciclo ♻️ resin.

Taking into account that this is a meeting point for professionals from the sector, associations, technology centres and suppliers of raw materials, we can say that we have been left with a very good taste in our mouths after being able to share with all these actors the new market trends and the demands of society in general, and how the solutions that we distribute from Global Composites contribute to offer more sustainable materials, focusing on recyclability and circular economy, key aspects in building a greener future for all of us.

Sharing space with all this specialised public has helped us to share experiences and information about our recyclable resins applied in sectors such as aeronautics, railways, automotive, naval, as well as the leisure and sports industry, among others.

Regarding the large number of visitors, we are grateful for the conversations with all of them. It was a real pleasure to coincide in this event.

In terms of innovation, we were able to participate in the opening up of new fields of application, such as aeronautics, with the concrete application in the use of composites in the storage of liquid hydrogen.

Another new field was the application of composites, epoxy resins, in the injection of concrete structures affected by flooding. A key aspect today.

On the other hand, since our training aspect is always present, we were grateful for the visit of groups of VET students, and we were also able to talk about future topics for new training courses, discussing what kind of content is most in demand and what expectations the students have in this aspect.

Recyclability in the composites sector

The biggest global challenge for composites is their complexity in terms of recycling. Disposing of products will become a real problem from January 2025 onwards. And it is expected to increase from 400,000 tonnes to 2 million tonnes of such waste by 2050.

At Global Composites, as experts in providing solutions for all industries, we are committed to what we consider to be Swancor’s greatest leap in technological innovation, the first 100% recyclable thermosetting resin system, EzCiclo ♻️, for which we are the official distributor in most of Europe and North Africa, providing quality products and services that seek to offer the possibility of a cleaner future for all.

In response to this need, Global Composites, together with Swancor, offers the EzCiclo ♻️ + CleaVER solution.

Why do we say that EzCiclo ♻️ is a recyclability solution?

As mentioned above, EzCiclo ♻️ is the first 100% recyclable thermosetting resin system on the market. The composites manufactured with this system can be degraded by reactor treatment and by means of temperature, and the help of the degradation agent, CleaVER, also provided by Global Composites.

The main concept of this union is to manage these end-of-life products and discarded GRP to be fully recycled and reused.

What is the degradation process like?

To meet European sustainability standards, the degradation process of this 100% recyclable thermosetting resin system, with CleaVER, is as follows.

Thanks to the action of CleaVER in the reactor, the polymer chain of the composite is broken down, degraded and dissolved, so that the resulting products, a liquid oligomer and the fibres, can be separated for later reuse.
